If you celebrated New Year’s Eve with an engagement ring on your finger, then it’s very likely that you’ll be having a 2018 wedding. So because it’s January, we’re always on-trend and you want to ensure your special day is oh-so ‘now’ with the latest hairstyles and makeup looks, here are some great fashion trends that will be making waves in 2018 that you can use for your wedding.
1. No makeup
No, we’re not advocating that you just forget about your face – we’re talking about the very beautiful current trend of letting your natural features shine more brightly. Think naturally glowing skin, a light flushed cheek look and freshly-coloured lips.
Tip: Get this look with well looked after and regularly exfoliated and moisturised skin, some ‘blurring’ foundation to cover blemishes and some light lips and blush.
2. Braids
Braids are a consistent winner, but for weddings, they’re going to be very much ‘in’ in 2018. Frame your beautiful face with a halo braid, or get exquisitely detailed with an intricate and layered up-do to stun as you walk down the aisle.
3. Strong eyebrows
If you look back to the past, strong eyebrows were worn so brilliantly well by the likes of Brooke Shields and Elizabeth Taylor, but Cara Delevingne is not the only modern equivalent who is showing that the bold brow is back. For your wedding, it will really bring out your eyes.
Tip: To emulate this look for your big day, simply fill in the colour of your existing brows, and go bigger and bolder before finishing off with a powder.
4. Relaxed hair
Like the ‘no makeup’ look, a major trend as the calendars are flipping over from 2017 to 2018 was a more laissez-faire approach to wedding hairstyles. In short, if you want to let your locks flow freely, or your favourite day-to-day look is a relaxed up-do, it also works well for a trendy, modern, fresh and uncomplicated wedding – a rejoinder to the perfection of the past.
Tip: Tell your favourite hairstylist that you want to capture, enhance and beautify one of your favourite daily looks for your big day.
5. Different lips
Not too long ago, as you planned for your big day, you might have agonised over how to colour your lips for your special wedding day. But may we suggest that you forget about colour, and concentrate on gloss instead? For a while, lip gloss had almost disappeared from the fashion scene, but that’s often a great chance to appear fresh, bold and trendy for your big day. It’s also the perfect complement to the ‘no makeup’ style.
Tip: Before adding the gloss, prepare your lips to get rid of any dead skin cells, and consider using a gloss with a big of celebratory sparkle! Or if you’re really determined to use some colour, go with a soft, natural pink that complements rather than contrasts with your skin tone.
Of course, these are just a few of the on-point fashion trends of 2018, but there are plenty of others you can use for your wedding, including flower crown hairstyles, looks based on simplicity, nature, short locks, minimalism and much more.
